Gabe’s Faves and Fades: Fantasy Football Rankings 2021 – Week 2

As promised there will be a week-to-week 2021 fantasy football rankings as the season wears on. Follow us on all social media platforms to know when I drop each week! Week 1 is gone and hopefully, you’re 1-0 (or a little richer in the pockets).

As a reminder, FAVES obviously means to start or choose the listed players or defense for the respective week. FADES means that player or defense is best to bench or not select for daily fantasy that respective week.

The NFL 2021 season is here and so is Gabe’s Faves and Fades for Week 2 of fantasy football. Let’s get it!!!

Week one had some serious landmines with favored running backs in great spots that bottomed out. Let’s hope we can get back on track in Week 2 after seeing a glimpse of what these teams are about. I would like to point out that stating the obvious superstar players is easy, so more of my focus is on the other guys who provide good results at a value.

QUARTERBACK

FAVES

Tom Brady – Here’s hoping the Falcons can make it a competitive game so we could forget about the meltdown against Philly. The problem with using Brady is that Vegas has the Bucs as -12.5 favorites so the game script would favor the run game. Fortunately, Arians doesn’t like to use either Rojo or Fournette so we could possibly see a fair amount of short passes to Gio Bernard.

Dak Prescott / Justin Herbert – This is a game you would want multiple players from being that it is the highest scoring game on the slate. You really can’t go wrong with either but I’d slightly lean Dak. We must remember prior to his injury, Prescott was one of the best fantasy quarterbacks a few seasons ago. Justin Herbert made my fades list last week as most of us overrated the Washington Football team’s defense. That isn’t the case this week in this potential shootout as both team defenses lack any real stopping power.

FADES

Baker Mayfield – I’d expect the run tandem of Chubb and Hunt to carry the load. However, if Tyrod Taylor comes out again puts up 25+ points against the Browns then Mayfield could have a solid day.

Matt Ryan – I don’t feel great putting him here because he has the potential to be in a shoot-out against the Bucs. I just need to see which Matt Ryan we are getting. Just an abysmal performance against the Eagles in Week 1.

RUNNING BACK

FAVES

Najee Harris – CHALK CITY BABY!! This guy played every snap last week for the Steelers which is an extremely valuable trait for any back. This week they face the Raiders at home as -6.5 favorites with an implied team total of 26 points. Fire him up and pray he gets at least 90% of the snaps.

Chris Carson – See Najee Harris. The same applies to Chris Carson who the Seahawks will be without backup back in Penny. Carson should command the lion’s share of touches as his team has an implied total of 30 points. We love backs who are at home with a total of 24 or higher.

FADES

Christian McCaffreyWhat? Let me just say that he will most likely get his touches and do well most weeks. However, albeit a one-week sample size, the Saints run defense looks like the real deal. We are going to see what Sam Darnold is about as he barely beat his former team the previous week. I’d expect them to lean on CMC which worries me with the defense possibly stacking the box.

Joe Mixon – Like CMC, the volume will be there but the Bears run D is worrisome. His usage rate is hard to ignore as he could very well bust through. I’d prefer other options but will not fault anyone for choosing Mixon.

WIDE RECEIVER

FAVES

Amari Cooper / Keenan Allen – Anytime a Quarterback makes the faves it’s almost certain you pair them with their top wideout. I rather have Cooper of Allen in this spot since Gallup went down in Week 1. You really can’t go wrong with either. The Cowboys/Chargers game is where you want the most exposure. To be contrarian, try using Lamb and Mike Williams with their Quarterbacks as well.

FADES

Ja’Maar Chase – All the offseason concerns went out the window Chase went for 101 reception yards on 5 catches for a Touchdown. That was against Minnesota, the Bears pose a much tougher challenge for Burrow and crew. Look elsewhere this week.

Mike Evans – He has to bounce back against the Falcons right? The problem with Evans is that Brady has too many weapons. Antonio Brown looks rejuvenated while Gronk caught two touchdowns in Week 1 along with Godwin. He appears to be the odd man out but that could change at any time.

TIGHT END

FAVE

Darren Waller – Can this guy overtake Kelce as the leading Tight End this year? That remains to be seen but the sheer amount of targets and volume he gets per game is staggering. He faces a tough test at Pittsburgh this week but production is enough for me to warrant using him in all formats.

FADE

Kyle Pitts – If you watched last week’s game it appeared this guy didn’t know how to play football with the routes he ran. You can point to Matt Ryan needing to be more accurate but until I see more from Pitts I’m keeping him benched.

DEFENSE

FAVE

New York Jets – Rules we go by in the fantasy community is for the Defense to face a rookie Quarterback at home with a low game total. This game checks all those boxes with it being the lowest game total on the slate against Mac Jones.

FADE

Patriots – The rules for Jets apply for the Patriots as well. The difference is the price in daily fantasy as the Pats are priced on the higher whereas the Jets are at the bottom.

NFL 2021 Week 2 Fantasy Football rankings in the books! Good luck and always your gut feeling is better than mine!

Gabe’s Faves and Fades: Fantasy Football Rankings 2021 – Week 1

Welcome back to my Fantasy Football Faves and Fades for 2021. The goal as always is to pick the optimal plays of the week to get that money up. I like to focus on numbers and matchups. These plays could serve you well in season long as well. If you followed me last year nothing much has changed in the format.

As promised there will be a week-to-week 2021 fantasy football rankings as the season wears on. Follow us on all social media platforms to know when I drop each week!

As a reminder FAVES obviously means to start or choose the listed players or defense for the respective week. FADES means that player or defense is best to bench or not select for daily fantasy that respective week.

The NFL 2021 season is here and so is Gabe’s Faves and Fades for Week 1 of fantasy football. Let’s get it!!!

QUARTERBACK

FAVES

Patrick Mahomes (KC) – This is the safest pick on the slate with the highest game total at 53. Mahomes is back with all of his weapons looking to make another run at the championship. Mahomes is averaging 24 points a game vs the Browns as they are favored by 6.

Kyler Murray (ARI) – Murray is also a no-brainer going up against the 24th ranked defense in the Titans. Adding AJ Green to the mix should keep defenses honest against Hopkins. It’s really a toss-up between him and Patrick Mahomes in Week 1.

Sam Darnold (CAR) – Since the other QB’s are obvious choices, Darnold presents the value option. He is facing off against his former team in the New York Jets so the narrative is there to prove them wrong. The only problem with that is Zack Wilson seems primed to have a stellar rookie season according to chatter.

FADES

Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) – Rumors are ramping up that Ben appears to be over his shoulder issues. However, we never play Big Ben on the road as the splits are damning.

Justin Herbert (LAC) – Herbert surprised most with the stellar year last season but faces a stiff road test against the Washington Football team.

RUNNING BACK

FAVES

Christian McCaffrey (CAR) & Derrick Henry (TEN) – 1 and 1A. I’d slightly lean towards Derrick Henry due to its high game total but you can’t go wrong with CMC either. It all comes down to price and roster construction.

Mike Davis (ATL) – The Atlanta Falcons is a team I’m most excited about. He will see plenty of opportunities in both the run and pass game with the addition of rookie TE Kyle Pitts. Ridley is set to have a massive year with the departure of Julio Jones. You really have to pick your poison defending the Falcons.

FADES

Najee Harris (PIT) – See Ben Roethlisberger. I expect the Steelers to be passing a ton to keep pace with the Bills. It doesn’t mean Harris won’t be busy but there are better options in Week 1.

WIDE RECEIVER

FAVES

DeAndre Hopkins (ARI) & Tyreek Hill (KC) – Again, we want to attack the game with the highest totals and these studs fit the bill. Hopkins would be my preferred target slightly due to the Chiefs having multiple weapons that could take away from Hill.

Calvin Ridley (ATL) – Fire him up!! Once again, the Falcons will have a potent offense and he will be most responsible for that. He is definitely one of the top drafted receivers in season-long fantasy for good reason.

Marvin Jones Jr. (JAX) & Tee Higgins (CIN) – These are some value options that should be heavily targeted in their respective matchups.

FADES

Terry McLaurin (WAS) & Keenan Allen (LAC) – These two are slated to face each other in a very low-scoring affair with decent defenses on both sides of the ball. I expect the run games of both offenses to be the headliners.

TIGHT END

FAVES

Travis Kelce (KS) & George Kittle (SF) – Once again these are the obvious plays and for good reason. Kelce is an every-week play but sometimes you need to find an edge elsewhere. Kittle should be fully healthy and ready to be Jimmy G’s target hog.

Kyle Pitts (ATL) – Truly touted as the next big thing at 6’6 240lbs. He is basically Julio Jones with a bigger frame and uber-athletic. Expect him to step in and contribute immediately being utilized all over the field.

FADES

Dallas Goedert (PHI) & Zach Ertz (PHI) – It appears to be a slight timeshare at the position and that’s definitely something we don’t want at the position. Jalen Hurts is also going to be running a ton so let the situation play out a few weeks.

DEFENSE

FAVE

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS – The Colts have way too much talent on this squad to not make life difficult for Wilson and Co. The Seahawks offensive line is still problematic and relinquishes sacks like no other.

FADE

ARIZONA CARDINALS – High-scoring affairs usually mean very little defensive production. The Titans are filthy so expect fireworks.
